While he continued to promote such dietary system, Harold Kristal and William Wolcott further developed the practice. It became the basis for the modification of nutritional type.
Metabolic typing is a complex process of identifying the appropriate combination of nutrients which is considered unique to every individual. a. Protein Type. This metabolic type is considered fast oxidizers. If you are a protein type, you may crave salty and fatty foods. Frequent hunger may also be experienced as your body may burn more carbohydrates too quickly. High-fat protein diet works best for people under this metabolic type.
b. Carbo Type. Contrary to the first metabolic type, carbo types tend to have poor appetites. In order to speed up the oxidation rate, increased carbohydrate intake may be required. Carbo types are highly recommended to maintain a low-protein diet. Their daily nutritional plan should include moderate amount of carbohydrates and low-fat dairy products.
c. Mixed Type. If an individual is a mixed type, he is likely in between the two metabolic classes. Since there is a metabolic imbalance which is why there is a need for a moderate mixture of protein and carbohydrate-rich foods.
